FAQ: The Carnivore Bar

Why is this bar different from Pemmican?

-Better texture, like a crunchy granola bar made of meat. -Shelf Stable with a higher quality preservation of nutrients. -Solid and bar form at room temperature (not soft). And therefore not a mess!

Ultimately we are not sad we are getting this question a lot. Pemmican is great and is a terrific 16th century food. We are trying to modernize and bring the same idea up to date with better processing and care. So you can have ancient nutrition with the convenience of modern life.

How much does each bar/box cost?

Each Carnivore Bar comes out to 5 dollars so a Carnivore Box (20 bars) will currently cost 100 dollars. We’d love to bring this price down as much as humanly possible. Doing this Kickstarter is all about bringing the cost down by scaling up the production of this bar. We are our own first customers, and we want to be able to afford this bar. We quickly learned that we would need help going forward with that aim. That’s why we launched this project.

What's in each bar?

A lot of meat gets condensed into each bar. Each bar contains the equivalent of an 6oz Ribeye steak with 80 percent of the calories from fat and 20 percent of the calories from protein. So basically 5 dollars for a steak you can put in your pocket and take with you anywhere.

Each bar is slightly more protein than fat by volume, giving the bar a delightful crunch that we’ve engineered mechanically, without having to add anything chemical or unnatural that might upset our digestion.

The weight of each bar is roughly 65 grams. The Macros are 80/20 fat to protein and it will be a high calorie bar approximately 300 calories, so pretty close to a meal replacement.

What is the average internal temperature the beef reaches during manufacturing?

The internal temperature we reach during the cooking process is 160°F - 170°F. (71°C - 77°C.)

145°F is the minimum temperature required by USDA. We want to have a healthy margin, but we don’t want to bake all the vitamins out of the bar either.

This is where we are currently; we may be able to get more precise as we upgrade equipment.

Do you ship to my country?

Here’s the deal, guys. We’re going to work with customs for any country where we have supporters. We’re going to do our best to get these bars to you no matter what country you live in.

However, there’s always the possibility we could still run into issues with customs in some countries, in which case if you you’d of course be entitled to a full refund.

Some countries may allow us to ship in the grass-fed version, but not the grain-fed version of the bar, depending on regulations in your country, so orders outside of the U.S. may be limited to the grass-fed version of the bar.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
